Customer score results are based on an online survey of 3,359 members of the Which? Connect panel and 1,504 members of the general public, conducted in August-September 2023. The customer score is based on satisfaction with the brand and likelihood to recommend. Sample size of each brand/product is in brackets. Minimum sample size is 40. N/A means the sample size is too small to give a star rating. Delivery covers time, place, speed of delivery and communication about delivery.

Richer Sounds

Richer Sounds is always a top performer - and this year it's bagged one of the highest customer scores we’ve ever awarded. It boasts five-star ratings for almost every measure in our survey, from service to value.

The only area where it slipped (to a still-decent four stars) was the amount of packaging used. It’s no surprise that Richer Sounds is a Which? Recommended Provider (WRP).

Apple

Second-placed Apple is a good bet for tech. The fact shoppers rate the quality of its products will come as no surprise, but they are also impressed by its easy-to-use website and app, plus its delivery service.

Apple was let down slightly by its value for money score, though, achieving a mediocre three stars. We’ve still named it a WRP.

John Lewis

Shoppers love the quality of the tech products sold at John Lewis. Customers also spoke highly of John Lewis’ returns policies and guarantees, and many praised its staff. It's not surprising it's a WRP.

Dell

Dell scores four stars across the board. It sells its own products direct to customers, and also offers price-matching and a 30-day price guarantee which refunds the difference if your item becomes cheaper after purchase.

Samsung

Shoppers love the quality of he products at Samsung and are highly impressed with most other aspects of their experience at its stores and online, where you can buy everything from mobile phones and TVs to smartwatches.

It also picked up a decent four stars for value for money.

How the best tech shops stand out

Every year, we survey thousands of Which? members and members of the public about their experiences of shopping with some of the UK's best-known stores and websites, as well as with lesser-known brands.

Our star ratings reveal how customers rated each retailer on a range of different measures from value for money to aftersales service.

We also name Which? Recommended Providers for each category. Only shops with top customer scores and four stars for customer service and delivery plus three for value for money can make the grade.

WRPs also need to offer at least 28 days to return non-faulty goods. We exclude any retailers that give misleading or unclear information about returns.
