The current C5 (2008-), says Citroën, is very Germanic - it was even advertised with the slogan 'unmistakeably German'. There's a four-door saloon in place of the previous hatchback body style, and there's a darker-coloured hi-tech cabin. The Germanic reference is meant to signal that this C5 is more upmarket and better quality than its predecessor. Does it stack up to the likes of BMW and Audi, though? How we test comfort and practicality

Comfort and practicality includes how easy it is, or not, to get in and out of the car and the maximum height of occupants. We also measure road, wind and engine noise and assess how well the car deals with bumps from large potholes to jittery surfaces like cobble stones.
