Like so many of its crossover rivals, the second-generation Honda HR-V (2015-2020) is based on the underpinnings of a small hatchback – in this case the Honda Jazz. Sitting below the larger CR-V, this compact SUV model is available with either 1.6-litre diesel or 1.5-litre petrol engines and the choice of six-speed manual or CVT automatic transmissions. How we test comfort and practicality

Comfort and practicality includes how easy it is, or not, to get in and out of the car and the maximum height of occupants. We also measure road, wind and engine noise and assess how well the car deals with bumps from large potholes to jittery surfaces like cobble stones.
