The Aico Ei650 smoke alarm is powered by a lithium battery the manufacturer says will last for 10 years. Aico says that its optical sensor is best for picking up slow, smouldering fires commonly produced by electrical fires or burning sofas and is less likely to react to cooking odours if fitted in the hall next to the kitchen. It features RadioLink+ interconnection technology which means it can wirelessly link to other compatible devices from this manufacturer, such as the Ei603RF, Ei144 and Ei3024 heat alarms, making it suitable for homes in Scotland. If a fire is detected by one alarm, all the rest will sound too. But how well did it perform in our tests? Read on for our full review.
