What network does Lycamobile use?

Lycamobile is a virtual provider, which means it uses another provider's infrastructure – in this case, the EE network. It offers 4G and 5G coverage.

How good is Lycamobile's mobile coverage

To check coverage where you live, use a mobile network coverage checker. Simply enter your postcode into the map and it will tell you how good EE's signal is in your area, as well as comparing it with the other providers.

Lycamobile deals and incentives

Lycamobile offers a variety of 30-day and 12-month Sim-only deals, plus a selection of contracts including a phone. 

30-day rolling contracts range from £4 a month for 5GB, to £18 a month for unlimited data. Generally, Lycamobile offers huge amounts of data at very low cost, although our research shows customers don't think the rest of the service makes the low cost represent actual value. 

All Lycamobile plans come with free EU roaming, and international plans are available, so they could be a good option if you travel a lot or frequently need to contact friends and family who live abroad.

Does Lycamobile increase its prices each year?

Many of Lycamobile's deals are rolling 30-day Sim-only contracts, so customers are not hit by costly inflation-based mid-contract price increases. Before the end of the month, you will be able to check what the price to renew is. If it does increase or is too expensive, you can simply switch to a different network with no penalty.

Beyond this, Lycamobile has used a varied approach to increasing it's prices.

Previously, it used the Retail Price Index (RPI) plus 3.9%. It has since announced all prices are frozen until 2026, when terms and conditions state Consumer Price Index plus 3.9% increases will be used. This is likely to be after Ofcom has banned this practice of above-inflation price increases, but do consider the possibility that Lycamobile may change it's mind at any point.
