How good is Sheilas' Wheels car insurance policy?

With a score of 73%, Sheilas' Wheels' policy was a Best Buy.

It was among the top five standard policies we assessed and in the top 10 of all 61 policies (standard and non-standard) analysed.

The areas in which it performed well included a courtesy car as standard with guaranteed availability during repairs, along with a low compulsory excess for accidental damage claims (£50).

It didn't do brilliantly across the board, though. An example of an area in which it fell short was low provision for personal belongings (£200), which excludes cover for mobile phones, laptops, tablets, money and documents.

Low excess for younger drivers

Not only are younger drivers lumbered with the steepest premiums, they will usually have higher mandatory excesses in their policies, narrowing their cover. The highest compulsory excess for a driver aged 21 to 24 for accidental damage was £400 in the policies we looked at. With the Sheilas' Wheels policy this was £100.
