The Aico Ei3024 mains-powered multi-sensor fire alarm uses a combination of optical and heat sensors, which the manufacturer says will enable it to respond quickly to fast-flaming fires, smouldering fires and to rapid rises in temperature. You’ll need to add an Ei3000MRF module if you want to wirelessly link it to other devices in this range (such as the Ei603RF and the Ei144) to form an interconnected network. This means if fire or rapid heat rises are detected in one area of your house, all the alarms will sound together. This makes it a suitable alarm for homes in Scotland. You’ll also be able to get real-time notifications of alarm activations on your smartphone or tablet or extract data using an app to access details such as sensor status and alarm life. It has a rechargeable lithium battery with a 10-year life that acts as a back-up power supply, so it will still operate during a power cut. But is it any good at raising the alarm when smoke is in the air? We tested it to find out. Read on for our full review.
