The Aico Ei603 is a battery-powered heat alarm designed to detect rapid rises in temperature, rather than smoke in the air. This makes it a good choice for kitchens and garages where smoke from cooking or fumes from vehicles could trigger false alerts with a traditional smoke alarm. It’s a linkable alarm that can be paired with other devices from this range, such as the Ei650, Ei146 and Ei3024 smoke alarms. They can either be hard-wired, or connected wirelessly if you buy the RadioLink+ Ei600RF module, making them suitable for homes in Scotland. Once done, if any alarm in the network is triggered, all the alarms throughout the building will sound. It has a five-year warranty and both the alarm and RadioLink+ modules have sealed lithium batteries with a 10-year life. But how well does it detect increases in heat? We sent it to our test lab to find out. Read on for our full review of this Aico heat alarm.
