Best TV and broadband providers

Discover the best and worst TV and broadband providers in the UK, based on real experiences from thousands of customers
Yvette FletcherPrincipal researcher & writer

A bundled TV and broadband deal should be convenient and affordable. But not all bundles are equal – the wrong choice could see you landed with iffy broadband, a poor choice of programmes and substandard customer service.

We regularly ask thousands of TV and broadband customers about their experiences to reveal which providers are reliable, and identify those that leave a lot to be desired. The best providers offer speedy and reliable connections, alongside a great range of screen entertainment, but we rate other key elements such as value for money and the standard of its customer service.

TV and broadband provider overview

Bundled TV and broadband deals are usually more cost effective than paying separately for the same services, but what providers offer can vary hugely. There's a multitude of channels on offer, and some providers offer access to classic films and box sets on demand.

It’s worth keeping in mind that the pay-TV landscape has changed considerably in recent years. It’s possible to get Sky Sports as part of your Virgin Media TV package, for example – or BT Sport with TalkTalk and Sky Atlantic with BT. Flexible deals that you can change month to month have become more common, and faster broadband speeds are becoming more widely available

Read an overview of what each provider offers below, and click through to the review for more detail on how it performed.

BT TV and broadband provider review

BT is Britain's biggest telecoms provider. It offers a TV service bundled with its broadband packages - this is based around Now TV services though it's now called EE TV. Most of its TV deals are flexible, allowing you to change the bundle of channels you can access each month, according to your preference. BT offers TV services with it fibre broadband deals with average speeds from 36Mbps up to as high as 910Mbps.

Find out how customers rated its service in our BT review.

EE TV and broadband provider review

EE may not seem an obvious choice, but the mobile-phone provider has branched out and offers a broadband and TV package bundled in with its broadband services. EE TV is based around Now TV services and you're allowed to add a different combination of channels each month. EE TV's fibre broadband download speeds range from 35Mbps to a whopping 1,600Mbps (1.6Gbps).

Sky TV and broadband provider review

Sky is synonymous with pay TV and offers an impressive array of channels – there are over 300 available. Its bundles come with standard or faster fibre-optic broadband, with average speeds ranging from 11Mbps up to 900Mbps. Sky has had a dominant position in the UK's pay-TV industry since 1994.

Weigh up whether its reputation is deserved in our Sky review.

TalkTalk TV and broadband provider review

TalkTalk may appeal to those looking for an affordable TV and broadband provider. As its name suggests, TalkTalk started as a phone provider but now offers a Freeview-based TV service with its broadband deals. Fibre broadband average speeds start at 38Mbps and go up to 944Mbps in certain areas.

Find out whether it's cheap and cheerful or cheap and nasty in our TalkTalk review.

Virgin Media TV and broadband provider review

Virgin Media's TV offering is different from most providers because its service is provided via its own fibre broadband network. A mix of Freeview and premium channels are on offer – you can access over 200, depending on the deal you select. All Virgin Media's bundles come with speedy broadband – average speeds start at 54Mbps and go up to an impressive 1130Mbps (1.3Gbps).
