We like: It's easy to use

We don’t like: The fridge is a pain to clean

This freestanding fridge freezer can fit up to 12 bags of shopping inside.

It has three shelves and two drawers, one of which is humidity-controlled for storing fruit and veg. The other allows you to set the temperature according to its contents. Below are two larger drawers that give you direct access to the freezer contents

This tall model comes with a hanging bottle shelf, salad box, and a Vita-Fresh chiller compartment that sits at around 1°C to provide a super-cooled home for foods such as fresh meat or fish.

Audible alarms will alert you if the doors are inadvertently left open and its doors can open in either direction to help you fit this appliance into your kitchen layout.

This huge smart frost-free fridge freezer has an unusual feature. The top half of the fridge door is made of opaque glass that goes clear when you tap it twice, allowing you to see what’s inside the fridge before you open it. This prevents warm air rushing in while you decide what you want to eat.

The freezer door includes an ice and water dispenser, which is supplied from a refillable tank inside, so it doesn’t need to be plumbed in when it’s installed.

How to spot a good deal on a fridge freezer

• Any fridge freezer is a significant purchase, regardless of whether its on sale and will hopefully last you for years. Be wary of great-sounding deals on fridge freezers that aren't energy efficient, as an electricity-hungry model could end up costing you in the long run. 
• Don’t get upsold on gimmicks. Read our reviews to make sure you're buying the best fridge freezer. We cut through the techno babble manufacturers use to upsell customers - and our research proves that sometimes, interesting features and settings are prioritised over cooling or freezing food effectively.
• Always check there’s enough space in your kitchen to fit in your fridge freezer. You’ll need at least 5cm around it so it can ventilate properly.

Big high street and online retailers such as Amazon, AO, Argos, Currys and John Lewis tend to offer better deals than the manufacturers.

If you have your heart set on a multi-door or American-style fridge freezer, Haier produces a good range that are widely stocked at stores including AO, Currys and John Lewis. Beko fridge freezer deals

Beko’s range of lower-priced fridge freezers is widely available on the high street and online, from stockists including AO.com, Currys and John Lewis. You can’t buy direct from the brand's own website currently, but if you buy a Beko model elsewhere and register your purchase on the Beko website within 90 days, you can extend the standard one-year guarantee to two years.

It's a brand that may be more commonly associated with TVs than refrigeration, but Samsung has an extensive range of fridge freezers available at high-street and online-only stores, including Amazon, AO, Argos and John Lewis. You can also buy models from the Samsung website, but this is often the most expensive route.
