What’s Europcar like?

For a big-name brand, Europcar falls short of expectations. The company did receive four out of five stars in several categories, but it’s still got its problems.

It gets just three stars for value for money, and our survey found that it has the second highest average price of any brand. Many customers reported hidden or disputed charges, hence the three-star ratings for 'clarity of extra charges' and 'ease of opting out of extra charges'.

Another added that Europcar 'took every opportunity to try and sell me upgrades I didn't want. It was tiresome and a waste of time'. Hardly glowing reviews. 

However, some users of the service had trouble-free experiences. Several commented on the ‘quick and easy’ hire process. Customers also seemed to be big fans of the ‘quality’ vehicles with one reporting their car was ‘virtually brand new’.

Should I book with Europcar?

Europcar ratings are pretty average. If you like the reassurance of booking with a big brand there are definitely better options, including Enterprise.
